aldi pc

To be honest, I always stay away from AMD processors, they just don't seem to have the life of an intel.

CPU scores just below an i5 on this chart so not too shabby performance. Personally and for no good reason I'd only buy an intel CPU not AMD. You should be able to price the components up on a site like ebuyer and see if it seems like a good total price.

I've got an (intel) Aldi Medion PC as my media PC under the TV. It's been reliable but came with loads of unwanted software extras pre installed that slowed it down a lot... or maybe that was down to Vista. Anyway since it had a clean install of windows 7 its run fine.
I've added hard drives to it but it's never had any other hardware changes.

Looks like a good deal.

Built loads of computers over the years, all bar the last one using AMD.

Never had any processor problems.

Only thing with Aldi, is you can't upgrade the RAM without invalidating the 3 year warranty.

My Aldi netbook is about 3 years old and been perfectly reliable.

No experience of the A8, but looks like a good deal. You wouldn't get an i5-2xxx including Win7 for that I don't think.

I would expect the power supply to be rubbish for that price though and would personally want something better - even if I fitted it myself.

thanks for the advice

I bought my first Laptop at Aldi and never had any bigger problems.
The touchpad broke after 1,5 years (but I think it was my fault...) and they replaced it within 2 days. I worked with that laptop for about 5 years before I decided to buy a new one.
