Agreed

I have a favourite strap that I often change bag to bag.
I have no problem saddle stitching by hand to repair or make leather or canvass items.
However one can hardly expect a low price item to be very high quality, even if it serves a purpose for a while.

I bought a cheap "on offer" waffle maker from Aldi and it is still working well, but it owes me nothing.
 
Resolution- go and buy another as they are back in stock atm, change straps, take it back for a refund. You have your original bag with a new strap.
I took something back a while ago (can't remember what) the staff didn't even check the goods. Cash refunded in 30 seconds no faffing.

I love a bargain, but a bag for holding expensive gear is not something I would bargain on.

Except is sometimes isn't true is it? Sometimes you pay for the name.

An ex of mine imports stuff from China and if you compare the quality with the very similar big name stuff it's the same which shouldn't be a surprise as sometimes it's made in the same factory.

It's not always true of course, but saying that you pay for quality isn't always true either as these days what you are paying for is sometimes nothing more than the name.

Exactly. The well worn phrases of "you get what you pay for" and "buy cheap buy twice" are exactly what the marketeers of the big brand names want to hear as it means their messages spreading FUD have worked.

Yes there are some exceptions, such as UK made Billingham bags and no doubt others in a similar price bracket but by and large many of these items are churned out by the same factories.

In the case of Aldi and Lidl however a lot of their stuff (maybe even a majority) is made in Germany, Austria and other EU countries.
