AlanDorset Week 52 Picture of the Year

Rustic Stourhead
by Alan Webb, on Flickr

Trip to Stourhead today, properly in the countryside. Happened on a lady in a dress (possibly to do with the wedding in the little church nearby) that made an irresistible shot so grabbed an i-phone photo. A couple of weeks too early for the full glory of the Autumn colours.

Rusty and rustic at the same time :) The colour contrast works well and fits the theme nicely.

I had a grey rainy day when I went to Stourhead and no lady in a yellow dress. I was hoping to get the autumn colours but we were too early. I guess it must have been about this time last year!

Nice set of rustic images Alan.

The wheelbarrow looks like it's about to take root.

Looks pretty much like my wheelbarrow - hasn't gone very far by the looks of it. Great colour contrasts and fits the theme nicely.

Catching up. Some great shots Alan.

Love the shot of the bridge with the building in the background the pop of the ladies yellow dress.

You beat me to the punch with your precision image...back to the drawing board for me... :D

Not just precision tools but very precisely organised by the looks of it. Good shot.

Very precise Alan. All those tables - 'twas hard work before the internet.

Nice shot Alan, it took me a moment to realize that the leaf is plastered to a window!

That's a good idea, well executed.
Dead leaves, wind and rain - autumn UK.

Good one Alan, court the droplets nicely.

An unusual compostion for a fountain - you've captured the light and droplets well.

Fun shot Alan, it made me wonder where the drops of water were coming from until I read your commentary.

Good set. Think I like #4 the best because of the light and shadows.

Nice set Alan, and the info shot puts everything nicely into perspective and context.

#4 was also the vote from home, and I agree that the light and shade works. I just liked the two facets of death/cemetery and ruined castle together. Lovely weather on Saturday but it did make for a very plain blue sky as the backdrop.

Some interesting shots of Corfe Castle. I like the glimpse of countryside of desdtruction3

Really enjoyed seeing these as I've only ever seen pics of it from afar and didn't know the history. I think you chose the right shot. My next favourite is the last one.

A very interesting set of pictures and history too, such a shame to destroy such buildings.

Great series of images Alan, the commentary in your second shot really puts it into context.
