Airport Dixons and Canon Cashback?

Can anyone confirm whether Canon Cashback applies to items bought in the Airport Dixons? These used to be "duty free" but are no longer - however they do still sell some things at attractive prices.

The particular example I'm interested in is the new Canon 6D. The airport dixons has it on sale at £1349.99. Take the £150 canon cashback off this and you have a brand new UK sourced 6D for £1200 - a pretty good price!

The salesman in the shop said that he believes it should apply, since their products are UK sourced (in fact if something goes wrong you take it to your local store to exchange or refund, not back to the airport), but he wouldn't guarantee 100%. Does anyone know for sure?

I would be 99% sure cashback would apply.

The cheapest UK price is only £50 more than that on Camerapricebuster, so if there is any doubt you may as well stick with a 'normal' store.

I'm intrigued though, if they aren't duty free why are they cheaper than their normal stores?

Yes it does apply, I work at an airport and purchased a canon 550D from Dixons and got whatever the cashback was at the time. Remember they are not tax free, they are (almost) a tax free equivalent price you are still paying VAT on the goods.

Just an update for anyone who is curious in future - the Cashback came through just fine :-)

Glad you found a cheap option in the airport... Couldn't believe how expensive it was at Manchester T3 last week!!

How are you liking the 6D?
