Air rifle sales??

The whole 12 ft lb business is very problematic. As @Byker28i mentions the power can vary quite a lot with the weight of the pellet and if the police take you gun off for testing they are not obliged to use the pellets you use and so may find your gun over the limit.
The 12 ft lb limit was introduced at the request of U.K. manufacturers post ww2 who couldn’t compete with the more powerful German air guns available at the time. Another protectionist measure that didn’t go well :(

It's where having a chronograph works out as there's quite a variance between pellets. You also need to put at least 20 shots through to get a good average as theres a spread with every shot. The app is handy as it registers everything in an exportable table then can show max/min and average ft/lbs and fps etc

Yes, I have a chrono. I haven’t found the variance to great with precharged guns (Air Arms) — and no, I don’t weigh my pellets an discard the outliers like proper FT people, I’m not that good :) . I have some spring guns but haven’t bothered to check them, for various reasons, so the variance may be much greater for them.

Springers are prone to dieselling, especially if they've been stored for an extended time on a shelf. It's a good idea to put half a tin of cheap pellets through a mothballed springer to settle it down before trying to get anything accurate out of a chrono.

The chances of the OP's gun being over are slim, but if it is over you are better off knowing before you try and sell it because if you do and then it is tested you could face action for selling an illegal firearms which is pretty serious. Just saying you did not know is a slim excuse when it comes to guns.

The gun is labelled as being 12Ibs. I have found out it's value and it's worth very little, I will keep it and have a play with it in the summer.
