Ok, so im no good when it comes to mobile phone shopping, I hate it when my phone breaks as it means I have the whole hassle of getting a new one. Im currently on a sim only contract with vodafone with which I have unlimited texts and 300 minutes for £15 a month. But I have worked out that with the £200 ish I was going to spend on a phone, I can go on contract and get a much better phone for my money. So, my problem is, what do I get? Any help??

On a 12 month contract I can afford to go to £30-£35 per month or on a 24 month contract £25 per month. I want to stay on vodafone as they are all that really covers my area.

I've found the motorola milestone which I like, also the nokia N97 mini and the Sony Ericsson Satio. Im looking for something with a decent camera, 5mp+ so its getting rather difficult, especially with my hatrid for Samsungs. I love blackberry's but the trouble is they only have a 3.2mp which isnt that great :(

So, does anyone have any feedback on the phones I mentioned or just even any other phones you can suggest? I just dont know anything about phones!

Thanks in advance!

Sony camera's tend to be pretty good for a phone and the phones are easy to use, robust and never had a problem with them before I got an iPhone which is the only phone I haven't got bored of quickly...

N series Nokia's are notorious for problems from friends in the trade and know nothing about motorola as only tried one years and years ago and hated it :)

The trouble with phones is that everyone likes different things, best suggestion is to pop down to your local store or ask friends who physically have the phone and have a good play and settle for the one you enjoy the best :)

I've got a hero too - great phone but don't buy it if you want anything approaching a decent camera!

LG Viewty? (Ku990 if I recall)

If you love Blackberrys but the 3.2mp camera puts you off then I recommend the Nokia E72.

Sleek design with full QWERTY keypad and comes with a 5mp camera.

i used to have nothing but SE phones for that reason, really robust and reliable, drowned a few of them and they still worked..... then i bought the w910i which is a hunkahunka utter crap, ive grown bored of its freezing, and crashing and refusing to accept or recieve calls and the lack of acknowledgement from SE that it should have been withdrawn from sale (it seems its a persistent problem) finally gave up, sent it away for replacement through carphonewarehouse (and got a spanky new one in return), and im about o pu it up for sale, bought a cheap touch screen nokia instead, really nice phone with much better features.

ive noticed that the OHs w995i sony crashes occasionally as well and tbh i didnt think the camera on the w995 (8mp) was up to much either.

Wont be venturing back to SE for a long while

A mate had that Sony mentioned but sent it back, as he didnt like it.

Got the N97 myself, had to replace the original unit i had but the replacement one has been good, after the update that was sent out. The mini is supposed to have the update as standard.

Motorola never had or know any-one using it.

on paper its a cracking phone, really slim, nice spec, in reality it lacks the processing power to cope with those features hence the constant freezing and crashing, and it appears Sony-Ericcson just gave up with it eventually but didnt bother to withdraw it from sale and just continued to offer a shonky phone to customers.

Nah it's a bit naff. The camera on the SE K800i was super, and the Samsung Tocco's camera wasn't bad either (at least they both had flash) and those were the last two phones I had. It's a shame to come to a superb smart phone that lacks a vital part (imo) to a modern mobile phone.

I have the n97 mini and its simply awesome, I have had a few n series phones and they were as Nissanman says notorious for crashing, freezing up but the latest ones are spot on as the software faults were memory faults and the upgraded firmware has put the n97 mini into a whole class of its own ....... superb phone that just does everything right and now symbian has moved to open source the apps are nearly all free for them

Thanks everyone for your imput :) Ive finally decided, im going to get the Motorola Milestone. I've loved it for awhile now so going to take the jump, hopefully get it on Tuesday :)

Thanks Again

Just had a look at one on tinterweb Amy and they do look nice

If your going contract, go through a cash back site like quidco It just makes it a bit cheaper

I really don't know why people keep saying that it's not a good camera, my girlfriend keeps taking better shots than me with her Hero.

Take another look at the Blackberry, the camera isn't that bad, the flash is atrocious, but, personally, I think the rest makes up for it.
