Yes
Just a general question. How often do you agitate when developing in C41 colour chemicals? I've been guessing really and just giving them a bit of a spin every now and then but I'm beginning to think there may be a more structured way of doing it.

these days i just have constant agitation with a Jobo processor. When i used to hand dev i would just flip the tank 3 times every minute. I cant really see any difference between the two on the final results.

I agitate for the first 30 seconds..... so 0-30 seconds agitate all the time, then at 1min agitate for 10 seconds, then 1min 30 agitate for 10 seconds then at 2min agitate for 10 seconds etc...

Thanks Ashley, I do have a Jobo but sadly I've managed to knacker it up so I'm using the kettle and washing up bowl approach.

Cheers Lee, that sounds similar to what I've read so I shall give that a go next time.

Are you not getting consistent results the way you have been doing it?.
I use the same agitations for C41, E6 and cross processing...

They are consistent, mainly, but I was just wondering if there could be an improvement by changing some stuff. I thought I would start with agitation as its the only bit of the process that I don't really measure or do consistently.

How did you knacker it? I thought i did mine in but there is a little circuit breaker switch on the left hand side which i totally never saw before. A quick press of that and it all started working again.

Basically its fallen to bits.... the tank is knackered and won't fix to the processor, there's a hole in it which leaks and the bottle holder bit has fallen off. I'll get another one at some point but I'm happy with the more agricultural approach for the moment.

6 inversions at the start then 3 inversions every minute thereafter .....same agitation for all films and developers , b&w and colour unless it's semi stand development then its 6 at start and 3 at half hour.

Edited for the typos caused by a tablet that speaks Franglais :D

Personally I use constant agitation for c41 as it gave me.better colour than the other method. I don't, however, have a machine to do if
