Agfa Vista Challenge

aahhh, you guys crack me up...

If the agfa is anything like c200 in colour rendition then this is the perfect time to test it..

It's exactly a year today that I shot my first role of colour film, ive reposted the results here

I'm saving my Reala and superia 200 for more important times, so this Agfa is very useful in between

Phew, I did mine this afternoon. Autumn is a very short month in Edinburgh, first bit of wind and its winter.

It's been dull and rainy in the London area, but useful for shots of a wet Autumn leaf stuck on the road. ;)

Still got half a roll in the F100 from Brizzle so I shall finish it off in Brugge. Weird colours are normal for me....I'm colour-blind.....just convert the ridiculously over the top ones to B&W et voila.

LOL, I went out this afternoon into the local hills/countryside so as not to leave it too late only to find that as it is still very mild here, autumn has barely begun so it's still pretty much green everywhere:|

Grabbed a couple of other shots though missed the opportunity to shoot a rather large ( approx 4ft long:eek: ) western whipper snake that I evidently nearly trod on:gag: ( according to the mrs) who practically leaped off the ground into my arms with fear:D

Weathers been gorgeous the last couple of days and where am I? Stuck at work.
Hopefully I'll get chance this week

- Holding out for the arrival of new fed4 and industar 61 before starting on this, but picked up 4 films today. I was running low on test films after the fed2 with its film shredding problems.

We don't seem to actually get an autumn in london any more. Just a fingerclick and then its winter. I need to be creative on this one I think.....

"It has to be shot on Agfa Vista 200."

Sorry Nick to much testosterone flying around in this thread, I will regrettably decline.

Not quite sure what this means Richard but understand if you don't want to join in.

Hi, Nick,

What it means is the concept was great, but a few members wish to imprint their signature on the thread and therefore I believe in my honest opinion it has shifted away from the original concept, I hope that clears the uncertainty for you.

Regards,

Richard.

Me neither (no understand) - it's an Agfa Vista challenge no? There's a bit of fun here but no testosterone (can't spare any at my age anyway :D )

*edit - prolly post the pics in the wrong thread anyway Richard

Indeed it does, thanks Richard

Indeed we do Brian, it could only be a good thing :D

Tbh I'm a little unsure as to what is meant by the " original concept", however if it is the fact of posting the results in the colours that this film has to offer rather than cross processing that is causing upset then i have no problem backing out of the challenge.

Like many others I would have to send off to a lab to have the film devd which isn't a cost I wish to incure simply to have a bit of fun in this challenge.

My request to cross process was in no way suggested to adapt the challenge for selfish reasons.

Nick, if you wish to keep the results colour only, then no worries.....I'll look forward to viewing the results and join in on a different challenge another time.

Thanks for offer Asha but it's not necessary, there appears to be one and only one rule, it has to be shot on Agfa Vista + 200 and I stand by my decisions to make this challenge as inclusive as possible, regardless of race, gender, religion, geographic location, sexual persuasion, colour, black or white or cross processed, all are welcome...

Even Canon users

OK you can't be any more fair than that ......not sure about inviting Canonites though:D :D :D

Done mine today going to scan tonight. They are FULL of testosterone :)

If photos taken yesterday evening of a sunset over Liverpool Bay are acceptable, I might have a go if they look any good when they come back.

I'm mainly interested in photography on the cheap and only used colour to test out a camera I'm thinking of selling. I do my own B&W most of the time owing to processing costs, so I'd be very interested if anyone could post a link to a photo taken on Vista but processed in ID11/D76 or Rodinal. (£1 a roll is a lot cheaper than Tri-X and Silverprint were out of Fomapan 400 when I last went in.)

Have both ..get it done in colour, then convert to B/W with a program. Maybe Tesco still dev only for 99p?

I've sent it to Photo Express for a fiver. That will be the last colour for a while. I did use the Asda at Park Royal that you liked and I thought was not much cop but just about OK for the very cheap price, however as you know they've stopped the service.

If I really want colour for something special I think Club 35 are excellent, but I wouldn't put Vista in there as it sounds like it might be a fairly muddy film - we shall see! I think I might like to try some of my ample stock of B&W chemicals on the remaining 4 rolls of Poundland stuff, except I've no idea what to expect.

Asda at Slough are good (which I use now), but you get the usual spots to touch up most of the time..I reckon the girls are sloppy because the machine can spot the spots and correct, when mainly prints are done instead of just CDs.

I have recently shot a roll of agfa vista 200 (my first film) and am waiting for it to be processed. Is the theme still autumn as i have shot it over the last four weeks but is not specifically autumn related. If not can I join the challenge?

It's not a competition but more about what's achievable from the film, so as long as they fit into the general theme then I don't see why not.

How many shots allowed to be posted?

So to clarify, there is no longer a specific autumn theme? No mention of it in the other thread.

Not bothered either way as I've got half a roll shot on autumn stuff, so I can finish the rest of the roll on other stuff if needs be.

There is still an Autumn theme, I'll amend it just to clarify :D

When did the theme come about then?

I am messing with an old box thing, might convert it to 35mm and see what comes out the back. Would mean closing up the bloody great hole that lets the light in a bit though. Or just use the mju :D

Just here...:D

So we need a theme, one that's accessible to all and shows off the wonderful colour rendition of the Agfa Vista film.

So unless anyone can come up with a better theme I suggest....

Drum roll please....

The colours and TONES of Autumn

where, just there ^ or somewhere not in the rules/terms at the start as well? Not that it bothers me - anything shot now (as I said before) is technically on theme :D

So whats the best way to scan these to capture their full... Magnificence?

I've got mine back from asda and as ever they need rescanned. This time they're a little under saturated instead of a black grainy mess. I don't know why I pay them for this tbh...

What options do you have at your disposal?

TBH if it's going to cost you more money I wouldn't bother and just make do with Asda's offering.

I've got a V500 so setting adjustments would be helpful. When ever I scan things they end up with fairly neutral colours... Apart from the Velvia!
