Brought a old Agfa Isola II, seems to be working... but i cant tell if the shutter is opening. :| Whats the best way to test?

Also its got a hot shoe, what flashes can i get for it? as the highest shutter speed is only 100.

Thanks

open the back, point it at the light, open the aperture good and wide and press the shutter release and look for the light coming through - then change the aperture setting and see if the bright circle changes size to match the settings on the outside of the lens.

there's a manual here... http://www.butkus.org/chinon/agfa/agfa_isola_6x6/agfa_isola_6x6.htm - not sure if it's a "hot shoe" - my money would be a cold shoe and a PC socket on the side of the lens - and iirc, you'd use a 1/30th second shutter speed setting when using the flash...

Lewis, I hope your are going to put a roll of Vista through it! It would seem very appropriate, film and camera reunited.:)

EDIT Just noticed it's a 120, so I guess vista is out then. Less haste more speed on my part!:cuckoo:

Any film flash will do the trick, I use both a National PE145 and a Sunpak SP140 and they work well on my old film camera,s that have cold shoe mounting, both of these flash units have sync cables attached so as Mark said dial in the speed and set the aperture to the guide on the back of the flash.

These can be picked up from fleabay for a few pounds.

I'd go with 100(ish) ASA. I usually use FP4 or Acros.
Have fun!
