hi, i recently purchased 2 after market batteries for my nikon d90, and to my surprise they held there charge and performed as good as the nikon, the only difference i found was the after markets ones just gave out without warning, whereas the nikon gave you warnings that power was low. Have i just been lucky:shrug: or after maket batteries quite good.? ( i paid about £13 for the pair including postage).
cheers
Darryl.

I have a 7DS one for my D90 and it works the same as the original, no issues at all. I tend to charge before they die completely though, unless they discharge completely from periods of no use.

I have 2 energizer ones for my D90 and I cant really tell a difference between my Nikon one. But as above I tend to change them when it goes down to the last bar.

why are the original nikons so expensive even now? just waiting for the nikon d3100 batteries to be manufactured by an independant, the originals are still £40+

Same here for the batteries for my K5. The original and the other one (can't remember what it it) seem, as far as the number of shots they will take, to be identical.

I've got a 7D and a 5DMkII that both use the same battery, luckily for me. I ordered a grip and 4 aftermarket batteries off ebay for about £45 and the batteries work just as well as the original Canon ones. I then decided to get a grip for my 5DMkII and a couple more of the batteries, so I've now got 2 original and 6 aftermarket ones and cannot tell the difference when I use them.

Over 24hours and no "3rd party batteries will kill your camera in the face with fire" comments yet, surprising.

Do you guys use a grip?

If so, do you mix the aftermarket batteries with the manufacturers ones?

I have a standard and a third party one for my D90. When used as a single battery they are both flawless. If I put them in the Nikon grip it reports low battery after a short period of use. I think the batteries might be mis-matched or something.

Over the years I've bought several different types of batteries for my cameras (350D, 450D and the latest, a Canon 1Ds MkII) from Ebay and they've all worked well and saved me a lot of money.

.

I've had a few 3rd party lenses over the years and it has been hit and miss what has worked and what hasn't. :|

Sometimes they have worked for a bit, and then stopped, but a few have worked just as good as the Nikon originals.

I've never had any problems with the original Nikon batteries. :) I'm not going to spend that much money on a battery though.

I mix my 3rd party and Nikon batteries in the camera and grip (when I use it) with no problems. :D

I was also surprised that there hasn't been someone to say why skimp on batteries yet either.

Judging by all of your opinions it would appear that after market batteries are ok. Good news for everyone.
Thank you for your valued input.
Darryl.
