Affinity is now free

I've downloaded it just now. I assume from the file size that what's downloaded is just the code to download and install the full program, and I also assume that there may be a time limit on doing so. I just need to be certain that installing it won't upset my existing, working Affinity installation.

My first thoughts on that are to first create a new clone of my system SSD, then install trying for a different directory. Or possibly install it on my Win7 VirtualBox machine first.

I downloaded it and have used it and it does not appear to have affected my Affinity (original) at all, (iMac M1).
I can't get the new Studio version to work 100% with NIK though, some of the plugins to not show with the 'Cancel / Save' options so no way of saving the changes back to Studio.

Thanks for confirming it's safe to go. I don't use any plug ins, so that's one problem I won't have.

This is an interesting move from Canva, could be classed as their loss leader. I haven't read the EULA but it'd be interesting to see if there is any provision for them to use your projects to train their A.I

Also great to see the Linux community have it working pretty flawlessly using Lutris.

By coincidence, I downloaded it last night just to try it out. From what's being said here, I now have a free, unlimited basic copy; is this correct? If so, I think I'll be able to bin my LR subscription because I think this does all I want it to do: exposure, cropping, just the basic things; that's all I ever used LRC for.

I will add, I was hoping they would have brought out an alternative to LR. While I not longer us it most Adobe users do and it could be the only thing keeping them as an Adobe slave.

Well downloaded Affinity and it looks very similar to photoshop........a poor man's Photoshop?

Don't expect it to recover highlights anywhere near as good as LR.

Just a thought: the Affinity suite replaces Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign, but not Lightroom.

ISTR comments on another thread that there is no training on your data. But you'd need to get confirmation of that.
