This is probably a really basic question, but I cant work out the answer.

Im finding my way round my 30D by trying to learn each function at a time and setting myself little tasks to help practice each one. Id like to try a few HDR pictures, so it seemed a good time to learn the Auto exposure bracketing function - now Ive found it in the menu, selected it but, when I fire off the shots, it doesnt take the 3 staggered exposures, just 3 normal shots. What am I doing wrong? Should I be in continous shooting mode or is there something else Ive missed? Does it need setting as a custom function? I tried it out in Tv mode, so I wasnt on the auto programs.

Normally, Id look in the manual, but its gone walkabout tonight...probably at the bottom of the kids toybox :bang:.

Sorry if the answer is glaringly obvious but any help would be appreciated!

Edit: Ignore that, AEB works in Tv mode fine for me with my 350D so I don't think that will be your problem.

I thought with AEB there is a setting in the menu which shows how you want the three shots to be, i.e. -1, 0 +1, maybe worth checking that too.

OK then, on my 350D set to manual, I select >menu> AEB> and pres "select" then press the right hand switch (AF) until you reach the desired exposure, then press select again.
Now if it works you should see three markers in your settings screen.
1 exposed correctly, 1 over exposed & 1 under exposed.

hope that helps

You can find the 30D PDF Manual online, PG 94 & 95 deals with AEB :)

When you select AEB in the menu are you setting the AEB amount or just selecting it and then leaving the menu?

Rob

Thanks chaps - sorted! Yep, I wasnt selecting the amounts, that was all - DOH!

Cheers for the help, and rob.e, thanks for the linky to the online manual!
