A reversing ring is your cheapest option but a Vivitar 2x macro teleconverter is the most versatile, allowing your 50mm lens to also be used as a 100mm portrait lens.

For a value for money diopter the Raynox is about as good as it gets. There are several UK based Ebay sellers where you can pick one up for less than £40.
