Hi everyone. This may seem like a basic question to many of you but please bear with me as I am a complete novice when it comes to using Elements (although I can manage the basics quite well).

I have a photo of a car. I want to turn the background into black + white (or mono) leaving the car in colour. I have seen this done with quite a few subjects and really like the effect.

Can anyone either provide me with an idiots guide or direct me to some online guidance that will be relatively easy to follow please? I have searched the help screens in Elements but can't seem to find what I need. I believe I need to be using layers but may be wrong here.

Thanks in advance,

RegG

Thanks Rhodese for your reply and the links - I think I will be able to follow either of these to do what I want!

Well, here's my first attempt at colour popping following Rhodese's advice. I haven't spent a lot of time on it and realise it is far from perfect but as a first try I am pleased with the outcome.....

Well done. You now need to get rid of the colour in the windows.

Rhodese.
