Advice Re Canon 30D Please

Hi all

Just after buying a Canon 30D with 17 - 85mm IS lens and wondering if anyone could recommend a good general all round book for same.
I am only after switching over from point and shoot into DSLR

Well the best book would be the instruction manual if it's camera functions you want to learn about. If you didn't get one with yours you can download it here http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/c...ategoryid=215&modelid=12929#DownloadDetailAct along with various software and firmware updates.

If you mean some other kind of book, what sort of thing were you thinking of?

I find the Canon Manuals to be a right pain! I think it's the translation makes it a very poor excuse of a product.

If there is a Canon 30D field guide I'd recommend that. I have one for the 5D and found loads of extra functions and customisation that I didn't really know anything about from the manual.

Magic Lantern guides are also OK

I would recommend Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson, it's not specific to your camera but worth a read.
