Using Windows 7 built in burning software, I burnt two folders with photos inside them onto a DVD. The software gave me the option master and finalise which I did. I posted the DVDs to my cousin but he says the DVDs only works on his DVDs player and is not readable on his windows 7 computer. What did I do wrong? I don't to want to make the same mistake.

Did you save as data?

If your cousin has a DVD ROM in there computer they should be able to read it with suitable software such as media player etc.

I can't remember as this was a few weeks back. I don't recall the software giving me that option. Apologies as I rarely burn discs so I might have to do it again tomorrow to see what I did.

Strangely enough when I burnt a DVD a few years back with photos, the girl said the same thing, only worked on the DVD player. I burnt on a different computer but win 7.

If you want people to be able to easily open the folders and browse the photos, save them to their own computer etc, then you need to burn them as data ideally

Your mistake was probably finalising them but I haven't used Windows DVD Maker.

I find Ashampoo the easiest burner to use.
