I have just received a used copy of this highly rated tiny lens, I have never seen one before.

My concern is the zoom action and final 'parking' of the lens.

In my composite picture 1. the lens is zoomed to 12mm

In picture 2 the lens is zoomed back to rest position but as you see there is still a small section of the lens protruding beyond the knurled ring ?

Picture 3 the lens is fully back but the only way to achieve this is physically push this back with my fingers ?

Is this correct or should the lens fully retract by turning the knurled zoom ring ?

I notice any picture I see of this lens closed up shows the lens fully retracted i.e picture 3

.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Image 3 is the correct position of the lens when fully retracted.

Return the unit and get your money back.

I havent heard of it before. When you twist the outer shell to line up the lines, does it feel like the lens snaps in place?

The outer plastic bit you turn to extend the lens is glued on to the part it turns, this glue can deteriorate and it loosens and doesn't grip properly. Can be refixed with double sided sticky tape or regluing.

Just checked on mine, it should return to position 3 without any other action than turning.

There is a definite click when you extend the lens to 12mm, such that you can feel it without looking.

Mine requires significantly more force to twist into the 'parked' position than it does to zoom in and out - similar to what you'd use to mount/unmount the lens.
