Hey, i need some advice on which lens to buy please. I need to take a lot of indoor shots over the next year so need a wide-angle lens for my canon 400d. The 2 lenses which im stuck between are

the canon 10-22mm
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-EF-S-...GZL2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1288272689&sr=8-1

or the sigma, canon fit equivalent
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sigma-10-20...00X0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1288272793&sr=8-1

Im not a great photographer, but i need to do lots for my work (in photoshop), so im tempted to go for the cheaper sigma version, but how noticeable will the difference in quality be? Or is there a different lens someone would recommend? How well will it work with my 400d (as im aware its a low-end slr)? Will there be much vignetting?

Thanks for any help

What sort of indoor shots? Portraits or interiors? Brightly lit, with flash or long exposures?

I use the Sigma on a 40D, its best performance is in the range 14-17mm and if you avoid closing it down beyond f/16. It'll go as tight as f/32 but once you look up the DoF tables for ultrawide angles on a crop sensor you'll see that there's never any need to go smaller than f/11 anyway.

Firstly I'd like to advise that they are called LENSES (or a single LENS)!

You can't go too wrong with canon, but as an alternative, I'd consider nothing else but TOkina.

alastair - it would be interior, and it would be both in brightly lit rooms, and dark rooms needing a long exposure

daugirdas - haha thanks for that, i've been spelling it wrong all this time, my bad!

Hi

I've the Sigma 10-20mm and I'm very pleased with mine, I beleive the Canon is a better performer, but for the limited use mine gets, I couldn't justify the extra cost.

If you have a look at the flickr below, the interior shots were all taken with the Sigma lens and I'm pleased with the results - these were all taken with the natural light available.

Good luck with your search
