Having been a hardcore film user, I've upgraded to a Canon 5D  I'm now looking at offloading my film-based kit.

I'm wondering whether to keep it all together and sell it as a ready-made system (ideal for a photography student perhaps?), or sell the camera bodies, lenses etc. separately. Has anyone got any opinions, experiences they'd like to share?

To give you a rough idea, it's 2x Nikon AF bodies, 2x zoom lenses, 2x prime lenses (all Nikon branded, including a manual 50mm f/1.2), a Metz hammerhead flash system with Nikon dedication, plus various filters, cable releases for both bodies, and bags.

A.

 the 5d goodness!
dont know much about nikon branded stuff, but seems to me you mght be able to get a fair bit for that lot!!
Not sure whether you should split or not. sorry!
good luck though, esp with the 5d, they are beautiful, huh?
:)

How about a few more details - I know a few folks who may be interested...
Focal lengths of lenses, condition etc - also your location might help too..

Quick point. Can we keep this to how Anarakus would be best to sell his equipment. Remember there are no sales outwith the classifieds and Anarakus doesn't yet qualify to sell on here yet anyway :)

Looking at the kit I'd have though with the quantity of it it's probably going to be too much for a one off purchase, especially for a student. On that basis I'd probably split.

I would sell it as all different items. You could get more money that way and if people want to buy the body or lenses together you could do a little deal.

I think thats the best way really. Hope that helps

I recently sold all my nikon film equipment comprising 4 lenses, 1 body, 1 motor drive and various filters and focussing screens.

I sold 1 lens (a 500mm CAT) separately and the rest as a job lot.

Both sold on ebay to traders, who refurbished and resold afterwards.

I was a little doubtful about selling the majority together but it worked out ok.

My answer will depend on how quickly you want to sell and what the cameras and the lenses are. Sell separately if they are pro spec or semi-pro spec then I'd definately sell separately. If they are consumer versions then combine together to make a kit unless you aren't in a hurry. Also are the lenses (other than the 50m f1.2) all AF, if not then combine together if you want a quick sale.

I've always thought that nikon digi cameras can use the lenses from the film ones?

If that's so, I'd sell one of the bodies and the 5D and get a nikon digi. Although I except that if the full frame sensor was a pulling point, that's very expensive in the wonderful world of nikon.
