I have been asked if I would attend a Kids PlayGroup session and take some images of the Kids and Parents.

This is something I have never done before so any advise welcomed.

From talking to various parents, I think they are looking for the White background look.

What equipment will I need, Here is what I have at the moment.
  • Lastolite Hilite 6x7
  • Nikon D700
  • Nikon SB-900 Speed light
  • Cheap Manual Speed light
  • 24-70 f2.8 Lens
  • 30" Shoot through Umbrella
  • Lastolite Ezybox Softbox
My only concern is what do I use for the white floor as the floor in the room is light colourd laminate flooring.

Not sure speedlites will be enough for the lighting you require. Sure someone can reccimmend a 3 light studio kit or something. Garry is probably your man.

I did get away with a couple of Bowens Geminis, doing something similar, but never used it much because of my full time work.

Should add I used the lastolite trail, but many on here seem to buy some laminate stuff from B&Q

Interested in the Laminate stuff, wonder what its called and how much it is.

I was concerned about the power in the speed lights, I was not planning on having to buy anymore lights but will wait to see what other folk suggest.

Out of interest, the lights you have, are they any good ?

The lights are good and are for sale ;). Although I have given someone else first refusal and waiting fot a reply.
The laminate stuff frrom B&Q I believe is used by Edingburgh Gary (amongst others) on here, look him up and PM him.

As for the lights, I'll find a link in a min.

Just noticed that this is in the Talk Business section. Maybe it will get better response in the Talk Lighting section?

Well, all of my shoots are done with a SB900 on camera, and I manage fine! All I use is a Photodeals backdrop (rarely need the train) and a D300, sb900 and 50mm.

This was taken recently using that setup
