Advice on Filters please.

I have a number of 110mm x 85mm Hitec filters with a P series adapter ring and filter holder.
When I use my lens wide open at 24mm I keep seeing the left and right side edges of the filter unit so need to crop the image to get a decent picture.
What size filters do I need to overcome this problem
I'm also thinking of buying a 18- 35 lens so with my existing set up the vignetting will be really bad so any advice would be greatly appreciated

I am full frame with 17mm WA and my 100mm Lee filters don't crop the frame.
Can't comment on any wider than 17mm.

Depending on the holder, you may be able to shorten it enough to avoid any vignetting. On some holders you can remove a slot with a screwdriver while others may need a saw or knife.
 
Thanks, Nod, I have been on the Hitech website and seen a wide angle adapter so looking into this at the moment not sure if it will fit or not

There are 2 versions of the Cokin P filter holder, standard and wide angle. The latter is much shallower but using it with full frame I still get vignetting at 24mm. I suspect your only option will be to move to 100mm filters together with their increased cost. :(
 
I have a 16-35 & 70-200, both of which are 77mm thread. I was close to getting the .6 Hitec grad & Cokin mount + 77mm adapter but it was 85mm so now having seen this thread I am quite pleased I didn't. Was VV cheap on Amazon UK, not sure if they do the 100mm filters, adapters & mounts though..............
