Hi,

I've offered to take some images of the gorgeous new Alfa Giulia for a local dealership.

Any advice on good practice and lens choice ?

I was planning on using my D7100 and Tokina 11-16 on tripod for close up wide shots and my 85mm f1.8 and 50mm f.18 for some detail shots with blown backgrounds. It's a bright showroom so hoping to avoid flash but will bounce off wall if needed.

Any advice much appreciated.

Cheers,
Mike.

If you have a CPL I'd be tempted to use that to reduce the reflections in the windscreen

I personally dislike wide angles for car photography & prefer an 85mm equivalent but that's just me ;)

I'd be more concerned with reflections though & a CPL may well help you out there ;)

Cheers guys - never thought of a CPL so will give that a try !

You of course will need to take it for a run to take that showroom look off the car before you start. Make sure they put plenty of fuel in.

Just watch out for reflections hard to avoid sometimes a longer lens helps.

Cpl is essential to minimise shine, reflections. Look for details and capture those small unique items. As for reflections, sometimes they can be good. Are there any reflections that work, Alfa sign reflected, another car etc.

Plan your shots before you go. Research the model, other images that have been used, work out what angles work, what don't. Always have an idea of what to shoot before you start, then fill in with other shots that appear as you work.
