Yes
My son had his photo taken in school. When the company sent the samples out they were small and not very clear but they seemed fine so we ordered our prints and also some prints for close family members.

Today the photos arrived and as soon as we opened them to look, the first thing we can see is crusty snot around or sons nose.

Now I know it's not down to them to make sure the child's face is clean and clear. But it was not visible on the samples we seen before ordering.

I am not happy with the photos we've received. Whilst image quality is fine we simply cannot put these photos on display.

Is there anything I can do?. Am I entitled to a refund even though the image quality itself is fine.

Scan and photoshop them using the snot (sic) removal tool, also get him a hanky

teach your son to wipe his nose ? and buy a magnifying glass to study the proofs in future

other than tha no - as you said yourself its not the photographers job to ensure you son isnt a snot encrusted gunk monster

Don't ya just luv the smell of compassion and empathy tossed in a salad of sympathy first thing in the morning, or is that napalm.

Steve its not the photographers job to clean every kid, but if you're not happy, approach him/her and see if there's room for a rebate, if not, thank them and mark it down to experience.

Oh and tell him/her you will recommend them at every opportunity.

Rhodese.

Thought as much. Oh well £70 down the drain.

I was actually being serious about scan and clean them up with software. Might get something pretty decent you could print or get printed

Have you asked them for the original Jpeg or raw file. If you explain the situation you never know

You don't say if the photographs were done by a professional company (Tempest or the like) but if they were then contact them and see I'd they'll Photoshop the images for you. I know the company I work for would and do this sort of editing when requested.

Yes it is a professional company. Or at least I believe it is. They are called ColorFoto based in Cardiff. I'm not bashing them in anyway. As I said there is nothing wrong with the quality of the images.

I guess I just thought that they would have cleaned anything like that up in PS before printing.

Ooh, which school - it might have been me that took the photos ☺

There simply isn't time to check and edit every picture taken like that. Imagine the number of images they deal with on a day-to-day basis with 25+ togs shooting every day and uploading 1500 or so each. As I said before, give them a call and ask .... they can only say no ☺

It was Ysgol y ferch or sger in North Cornelly, Bridgend.

My other half has emailed the company today. I will see what they say in the response.

Okay, not one of the schools I shot this term .... phew!

If you don't get any success from your email let me know and I'll have a word with the lab manager.

Thank you. That's very kind of you.

Update ....

Excellent customer service from ColorFoto. Even though they didn't have to, they have agreed to edit the images and send them out again.

They had absolutely no problems when we told them about the image. They took our order number, and within an hour they got back to us to tell us that they would be happy to alter them and get them sent out to us.

Couldn't be happier and I will definitely use ColorFoto again when they do the school photos next time.

Glad to hear that it ended well.

My daughter had her photo taken at school yesterday but she has a scratch above her top lip where the puppy scratched her at the weekend.

My wife asked them and they kindly said that they would edit out the scratch for us :)

Not only did they agree to edit the photos but I have received them this morning. The day after they agreed to it.

What a fantastic service. And the photos look great now.

Glad we lived up to my promises :)

FYI, we also have a pro print lab - Davies Colour - which do lots of printing for both amateur and professional photographers.
