Advice needed on exposure

Hi,

I need some advice! I went out and took these pictures:

The sky is overexposed and ruins the pics. Is there anything i can do in camera, altering exposure etc that can help or should i invest in a polarising filter?

I’m new to photography so any advice will be greatly appreciated!

You simply need to make a compromise with your exposure...in these cases you will have to meter the exposure for the sky more than you have done ...which in turn, will mean the foreground will be dark. ...

A polarizer has some abilities to help this problem but its not really the tool for this job.

So use the Auto Exposure Lock on the sky??

You could use a ND grad filter or try bracketing then combine the images in PP.

Graduated filters grey or blue are the answer to your problem and there are masses on eBay

Yep, that would work, or just manual mode, theirs plenty of time etc.


Along with the others guys ideas .....you could also wait for a better time of day, when the light is more uniform across the whole scene...and get the good exposures that way

Also, shooting in RAW may give you more leeway in PP.
