Hi Everyone

Im new to photography, in fact im 5 days in having bought a Canon 400d camera from a photographer friend.

I have been mostly intreasted in Landscape, sports, and Astronomy photograpghy for a very long time, ive tried to pick up as much information as possible over the last few days and was wondering if people could view a few snaps ive took.

The subject matter wasnt of great importance to me so forgive me for not having a lot of variety, i was more concerned with the settings and right Shutter, ISO and AP settings

I was hoping people could take a look and review, with the view of offering some advice and tips, dos and donts etc?

Many Thanks

Clicked on link and Norton bloked an attack on my computer

Hi and welcome to TP. You might want to have a read through the instructions on how to post up a picture, you should get a better response as most find it a pain to keep clicking links.

It looks as if the focus is off in pic 1 and 3 my guess is that you are letting the camera choose the focus spot rather than setting it yourself. If that is the case I would suggest to never do that. The camera is like that smart guy with no common sense, it doesn't know what you are focusing on. Also I would read up on the rule of thirds. This will help you make a more interest shot. I would also be interested in your apeture settings. That could be part of the problem.

Thanks for taking the time to comment on my pictures

for pic 3 the settings are as follows

Manual

ISO 800

Apeture 5.6

Shutter speed 1/200

Thanks

I think you nailed pic 3, great use of aperture. It was pic 2 that looked a bit soft to me. Also, you didn't mention if you are picking the focus spots or letting your camera Do it for you.

Were your setting the same on pic 2 as they where on pic 3?

from the off i dont see where your stuck.
use the histogram to see correct exposure and dont use screen as they never really show the true picture.
when thats sorted its really down to your own opinion i.e depth of field or whether you were wanting to freeze the water or blur it a bit.
