Adobe has released Camera Raw 4.3, an update to its RAW conversion plug-in for Photoshop CS3 that adds support for the RAW files from the Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III, Nikon D300, Nikon D3, Olympus E-3 and more. This update also makes official the plug-in's support for RAW files from the Canon PowerShot G9, and should also restore compatibility with Canon EOS 40D full-resolution CR2s shot with firmware v1.0.4 installed. The same changes are in Lightroom 1.3, which is also out today.

Lightroom 1.3 includes corrections for the following issues:
  • Writing XMP metadata automatically has been corrected for performance issues
  • Printing with the native resolution option enabled no longer sets the wrong dimension for portrait oriented images
  • Prior to Camera Raw 4.3 there was the possibility that artifacts in edge transitions could be introduced through the Bayer demosaic and luminance noise reductions algorithms. This has been corrected.
  • The Canon sRAW format and the Fuji compressed RAF formats are now supported.

Lightroom 1.3 includes the following enhancements:
  • The import dialog now offers the option to render 1:1 previews as part of the import process
  • The export dialog layout has been enhanced
  • A Lightroom Preview Export SDK is available for developers to create and distribute Export Plug-ins. Further details are located on Adobe Labs

There are updates to Adobe CS3 too, from version 10.0 to 10.1

Be aware that if you have a cracked version (not that anyone has) the new update will ask for your serial number when you restart CS3. Also it updated mine from Standard to Extended versions.

Two questions about Lightroom. I've seen people on here talk about mac versions and pc versions, someone on ebay is selling it as generic pc/mac; is this right? Secondly I've just down loaded the 30 day trial version, should I keep my main photo collection away from it; in case I don't buy it at the end of the trial? Has you can probably gather I'm totaly new to lightroom

Can't help you with the first question im afraid. But as for the second, it doesn't matter where your pictures are. Lightroom simply references them and holds any changes in the Lightroom Library file so the origional pictures arn't touched. :)

Edit; Ive got 1.3 installed now and there are quite a few little chnages that are nice. Little things like it now says 'rendering preview' rather than 'working' when the files load etc. I keep coming across bits that have been tweaked a bit. Looking forward to see what people do with the export SDK though.

just installed the update...not masses of changes, I'm sure I'll find out what they are in time

I installed Lightroom update the other day.

The main things I've noticed are the updated Preset manager thing, which is nice and handy.
The ability to render 1:1 previews on import, which is handy.
And when you zoom in and its taking a while to update, its normally because its rendering a 1:1 preview......now it actually tells you in a little bubble :)....which is handy

The official Adobe links from the original article work now...
