Hi, fast approaching retirement now, can't wait in truth :)

I have the monthly Adobe CC plan, how and when can I cancel it?

I won't be keen to pay for the Adobe software when I retire so I use Affinity now, meets all my needs :)

I believe the plans are all annual plans, and they also renew as such - ie. you take out a first plan, and 12 months later you take out another 12 month commitment rather than reverting to a 'monthly plan'.

Easiest way to find out is to log into your Adobe account, click on Manage Plan.

It will tell you when your plan renews, and also give you the option to cancel. If you cancel before your plan ends, Adobe will tell you the 'penalty' due to cancel early (I think it's 50% of the remaining plan). They will then offer you all sort of incentives to stay etc, but you can cancel through this route.

Thanks, my plan ends in March 2019, I may as well stay for now. 50% fee for not having it is pointless. cheers.

I was considering cancelling mine and when I went through the motions without actually cancelling (I decided to keep the plan) at the time I had one more month left and they were going to charge me half the remaining period left so about a fiver in my case but if you had say 6 months left they would charge you half of the 6 months. You have to leave just before you plan sub finishes to prevent early leaving charges.

I bought the standalone version 6 of Lightroom, same reason, rather not have a monthly fee coming out of my pension.
Support has ended for v6, but its more than enough for me, also have the standalone Elements 2018

Enjoy your retirement, know you will

I cancelled just before the renewal date, went back to my copy of CS6 and amazingly the world didn't stop turning. :D
Nikon's Capture NX-D with CS6 and an alternative option of DXO OpticsPro or Photolabs is enough for me to work with my files.

A bit tongue in cheek, ring them up and say you can't afford it now you have retired and see if they offer you a reduction.
Keep us posted as it might benefit all us other retired oldies , who knows they might introduce a seniors price.
Enjoy your retirement , you will wonder how you ever found time to work.

Sounds like a good idea, may just do that :)

Thanks for the good wishes, can't wait (y)

I still use CS5, I do see the occasional Dinosaur wander past, but that's all :D

I am not familiar with all these products, do any offer the cataloguing function of LR?

You can possibly get an xtra 2 months by telling them you want to cancel, they always offered me that option then when finished the xtra 2 months cancel then,I thought it was 40% you had to pay if cancelling early

By the way, if you cancel, does it stop working or can you still use it but with no new updates?

I went to cancel a few months ago and was initially offered a free month. After persisting and saying I was still going to cancel they gave me two free months.

Not totally u can still do basic editing and you also have full access to store photos etc

If your birthday or anniversary is anywhere near that date, it can save a lot of hassle if you ask/get this for your present. ;)

AFAIK DXO doesn't catalogue.

On1 PhotoRaw does do cataloguing, and would be my choice if I didn't use Lightroom.

As a retired person (or OAP, as the Daily Mirror would probably say) I have two concerns about the Adobe CC monthly subscription.

First, I hardly ever use Photoshop, yet under CC I'm forced to pay for something I rarely use.
Is it so difficult to have a Lightroom only scheme?

Second, I'm concerned about future price increases.
Adobe CC has already gone up in price from it's original monthly rate.
Who can say what the monthly payment will be in four or five years time?
