Hi,

I saved some photos in jpg and psd at college and transfered them to a portable pen drive. I have tried to open them in photoshop cs4 at home and cs4 dosn't recognise them all and will not open them. I have managed to open some of the jpegs and resaved them but not all will do it.

Any one know why this is please and what i can do to resolve the problem.

Regards,

John

May be the pen drive is corrupted?

Have you saved them from the pen drive to the pc then opened them?

What version of PS were you using at College? Shouldn't make a difference - but was it 5?

What version did you copy them from?

There can be issues with opening files from one version to another

Try dragging to the cs4 icon or right clicking on the psd and select "open with"

After downloading them try adding the .psd to the end, it sounds like the file name has become changed

Your getting confused.
You can't open .psd files in paint and neither can you save as .psd either.
As for jpg files, it's quite common to have them corrupted when copied onto a usb pen. There are endless posts about this via googling and nobody has come up with a surefire way to repair them.
The only way I found in the end was to go back to the source and copy them again.
