Is CS6 now only Cloud based on a monthly subscription?

Any ideas where I can get a CD copy from as I won't need to really upgrade much

Few doggy, (??), sellers on Ebay for not too much money, but ??

I need it for a Mac

I'm told that sales of CS6 are due to be stopped by Adobe soon, they are trying to encourage people to go cloud, although with the recent problems thats a somewhat risky plan if you need photoshop for work and work to deadlines. Might be worth keeping an older version running alongside and backing up your images at home just in case the clouds down again.

shouldn't matter if the cloud goes down as long as your CC has "phoned home" once in the last 30 days.

certainly any down time has never affected our CC users in the office.

but yes, we tried to buy CS6 illustrator recently and were told (by adobe) that we could only get another CC seat.

You can still buy it from Adobe as a download (not CD) for £660.51 here: http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/ca...sl_catalog_sl_software_sl_creativesuite6.html

Not sure why you'd want to as it's the same price as just over 6 years worth of Photoshop CC & Lightroom subscription (assuming prices don't change radically), and apparently cheaper elsewhere according to the reply above.

Rural France is still on "copper wire" internet, about as fast as a frenchman on a bike with a string of onions around his neck………. does that make a difference
We live in rural France

I have a real issue with Cloud. I spend 8 months of the year at sea. The Internet is very slow when Satcoms allow and it's only good for sending emails. It's not been thought through properly. There are guys and girls working in remote parts of the world and on operations with very limited communication.

So all you need to do is to connect to the internet once a month …….. so you download a full application ……. they take a credit card payment every month and unlock the full application that's on your computer when you connect to the internet, nothing else is kept on "the Cloud"?

£9 a month ……… I see …… I thought that I saw £46 a month …. which presumably is for every application that Adobe have

All of your files are kept on your computer.

you sign up and pays your money, they give you access to a page where you download your applicable apps, you have to connect to the internet at least every 30 days to keep it active, if you don't keep up your payments it'll bomb out etc.

I suppose this is the way the world is starting to run.. at least if you own something tangible should you fall on harder times then at least you have some consolation in still being able to use the things you acquired in happier times... now they will just take it away.. reminds me of the old spoof bank ads they used to show lampooning the way they used to try and attract students....... hard up, no prospects.. sod off

CC might be £9 per month for the first year, but nobody yet knows how much it will be on renewal.
Adobe have specifically stated that the quoted price is for the first year only.
In the US they are already quoting $30 per month for the CC version, and we all know how the dollar exchange rate works out in the UK...

$30 per month, for just Photoshop or full CC suite? If for the full CC then that's cheaper than it is now isn't it? Where is that info from?

Just PS and LR as I understand it ….. which is US$10 now

$10 to $30 after 1 year would bring a tremendous backlash ... I can't see it.

Serious Compacts lol, think I'll give that one a miss

fair enough

the site covers cameras from Canon EOS M, Leica M's, Fuji X, Fuji X100, Nikon 1, Sigma DP, M4/3, Sony E mount, Olympus EM, Pentax Q, Sony A7 and 7r, and some film, plus a few others ……… so I suppose those guys don't use PS and I never do with my Leica M's

It's just the name that tickled me. To be honest I don't mind where I go I frequently dip in and out of various websites / forums etc on Google searches. There is probably some very useful information on it.

It is linked to a Leica M forum and a Micro 4 thirds forum ……… it is a fun forum with lots of "good" interesting members

There are some seriously good camera systems that are compact - the new Sony A7r look very interesting and the Sigma DP M's have a great IQ

I read it on a similar thread on the Serious Compacts site ….. which has lots of US members
Doesn't look like the rumour is based on anything from what I read. The introductory offer price at £8.78 was only supposed to be valid for a few months but they keeped extending it, so plan was for new people to go back to paying full price of £17.58 if they start a plan outside of offer times.

I don't think there will be a significant increase in the £8.78 price any time soon. It might even go down when the new VAT laws come in place :)

It's been driving me nuts trying to find where I saw that.
It was definitely on a forum somewhere but I've searched the forums that I regularly look at and I cannot find it.
There is a mention on the "Talkphotography" forums here http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/need-photoshop-which-one.543160/#post-6274561 but I don't think that's where I originally saw it.

I think people are getting confused and don't understand. The normal price in US is at the $30 price. The $10 price is a special offer but price you pay remains at that price for first 12 months at least. If you don't buy at offer price you pay $30. After first 12 months are finished maybe price will increase but I don't think it will be big a jump. Adobe say they have no plans to increase I think.

I believe the Aussie pricing was slashed by almost 50% after enough people kicked up a fuss over the pricing difference between here and the USA.

There was actually a parliamentary inquiry into software pricing as Adobe, Apple, et al consistently gouge Australian consumers for no other reason than, "that's what the market will bear". The market stopped bearing it after a while.

Personally I will be avoiding CC for as long as possible. Calling it "Cloud" when it has nothing at all to do with cloud computing is enough to put me off to start with. ;)

Thanks for clearing that up.
I was beginning to think I'd imagined it.
Surely once the 12 month offer period has expired, the price will revert to the "normal" rate, i.e. $30?
To my mind $10 to $30 IS a big jump.

I think Adobe answered that question already saying 'no'. I'll look for the link.

Do you have a reliable link to the source of that information, or was it gleaned from one of the so-called "rumours" sites?

I'm curious to see a link for that too. The Adobe site for CS6 continue to say that it will be provided indefinitely on sapported operating systems.

I’ve just signed up for photoshop and lightroom CC and it’s awesome
you’ll need a good graphic processor to work the 3D function

Adobe just announced that the new, permanent price in USA for Lightroom, PS CC, PS Mix, and LR Mobile is to be $9.99 so it won't be going back up. That is a big step for Adobe. Good news. I'd have been surprised if they hadn't made an announcement like this today.
