Open the Adobe Creative Cloud app, then select the Apps tab. Check the status message.

Tried "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CC 2017\Bridge.exe"?
Does it show in CC Desktop > Apps?

yes I can find it in my apps - I have pinned it to the task bar- just can't get it to open or display images I have on file

I have done that- it just displays the "open button", which does nothing when I click on it

I point out I have downloaded the trial version to see if I really want to subscribe

I would remove it and re-install.

Do you have another version of Bridge on the machine?

Yes I have adobe Photoshop CS 5

That's not Bridge but if you have Bridge with it then it needs to be disabled/removed as you can't run two versions of Bridge.
