Yup, changed my password this morning. I use a unique password for every site so not a problem, but a pain nonetheless.

"Amusing", when the article suggests that it possibly came about using exploits in their own software that might not have been patched.
 
I'd like to change my password. Unfortunately the password reset email doesn't get sent so I'm locked out altogether. GRRRR.

Maybe they are overloaded with folk trying to change their passwords.
Trouble is that now they have been compromised how can we trust them.
 
Possibly... but if you lock people out that is what is going to happen!

Seems to be the way though. Linked in were hacked so I got tons of spam that was personally addressed. Dropbox were hacked so I got more spam. Now adobe. Great. More flipping spam!

I think there needs to be some improvement in data storage so that all cloud providers can only store encrypted data. Nothing should be clear text.

I also get doughnuts trying to change my apple id password.

Yahoo/hotmail are the worst though. Friends had both compromised so now I get spam to them and their friends all the time. It also raided my sent mail within yahoo somehow too so their systems are pathetic. I use a unique password for them so I know it has to be within that they're being stolen.

Have wasted hours trying to get Adobe to delete my account... in vain...
 
The loss of customer data is bad but possiblly worse is this has been going on since August and the loss of that source code.

Will you trust the next of the endless flash updates, have you got your adobe software set to auto download updates.


I'm very happy I don't have any adobe on my system, no flash, no air and no photoshop.
 
What got me in the mail I got from them was that as well as saying that encrypted card details were obtained they said that as far as they were aware no unencrypted card details were taken.
I hope that was just a badly worded attempt at saying the hackers couldn't get unencrypted card data because there was none to get. Otherwise - storing unencrypted card details - WTF - have Adobe not heard of PCI/DSS compliance..............
 
I got the email too. Pain in the bum.

Also had my twitter account hacked this week and used to send a load of spam tweets.

Fortunately the Adobe password was unique and I haven't had to change a load of them.

It's funny you mention twitter as mine was hacked this week too :(

That jumped out at me, too. I know nothing about PCI/DSS and could not find what I hoped by googling it.
Is it the case that storing unencrypted card details is forbidden ?

Indeed...many apologies I changed my password right away and then to my horror the exact same happened the following day :( so had to make more changes a force clear all remote connections to my account
 
I don't see this doing much good for Adobe's Creative Cloud subscription services. These require Adobe to hold details of active credit/debit cards in order to take the monthly subscription.
Two years since I bought software from them, but I will not trust them again.

Over the weekend IT has disabled downloads of PDF documents from outside the company :eek:

The email says it is to do with this scare.
Any idea how they are related.
Beats me :shrug:

I'd figure if the hackers have the Acrobat source code, they may be able to craft a .pdf file that'll do things on/to your computer that compromise its security, and IT don't want to take that risk. :(

The email came from head office, so I asked our local IT to look into it.
They can't find anything to justify the block and think it is over-reaction.
Fingers crossed that's true :)

Your IT may be simply taking the view that Adobe's security has not been adequate therefore they are not to be trusted.
I would tend to sympathise with that. I made a small one off purchase from them 2 years ago and yet they stored my card details. Security concious businesses do not unnecessarily store card data. No need to do so therefore why take the risk.

So... the credit cards data were stolen before mid-August and Adobe (a'DOH!'be) choose not to raise the alarm until one and a half month later?

Takes them 2 months to tell customers. Maybe even longer than that. How do we know that the truth is being told ?
That is appalling and irresponsible.

By having this Creative Cloud mullarkey and customers paying by card every month Adobe will now have a huge number of active card details in it's data banks. Makes them an attractive target.

So I went to register again the copy of Lightroom 5 I purchased a few months ago and was told this was already registered and could not be registered again. Clicked on the link to see where it was registered and got an email confirming it was registered under the new email address. Logged in again - still says I have no registered products. So all my versions of Lightroom and Elements are not now showing as registered but cannot be re registered.
Went onto their support chat line via the net - kept waiting 20 minutes - then chatted for 45 minutes and achieved absolutely nothing!

That will come as a great relief to some who have only just recently taken up the offer.

Just tried to log on using Chrome, but failed. Logged in using Firefox.

I have only used and registered PSE 10 and 11. These are not shown as being registered to me. I am shown as having registered PSE 7 which I have never had. Just a bloody shambles.

In my experience the registered software list on the Adobe website is slow and a touch unreliable at the best of times. When the site is busy - such as after a new software release, during the time when that whole accidental free Photoshop thing was going on and presumably after a security scare has driven a lot of people to the site to check their accounts - it's even worse and sometimes fails to load entirely.
