I've just updated to ACR 4.6 (from 4.1 that came with Photoshop Elements 6 for the Mac). Adobe Update downloaded the update but refused to install it and the webpage it referred to me to had been updated to ACR 5.
A quick google for "adobe camera raw 4.6" turned up the webpages for "Adobe Camer Raw and DNG Convertor" for windows and mac. Downloaded the update from there, followed the instructions and Bobs your uncle.
sorry to hijack this post, I have downloaded the update and have noticed the camera raw file is a plugin. I have placed it in the plugin folder but having checked my ACR version it still says version 4.4. Is there something I am doing wrong? Thanks
All I can say is that it worked for me. Did you move the original away before copying the updated plugin into the directory? Are you sure there isn't another copy of the plugin somewhere else on your hard drive that should have been replaced?
What OS are you running? If it is XP / Vista, could windows have replaced the updated plugin with the original?
Thanks for that. It has worked for me. I did notice that the 5.3 version works for Elements 6 also. I had viewed an online video based on 5.3 and it has a significant increase in tools.
Even although you are a Nikon user, I forgive you!!!
