Additional Flashgun Recomendations

I'm sure this has been asked a million times, so sorry to ask again.

But...

I have a 580ex II which is obviously great, but I feel I need a couple more flash guns for sort of stuff I photograph - people, outdoor objects and scenes. I have an umbrella and light stand that I have yet to use, but will do soon and may move to softboxes later in the year depending on things.

I also prefer to shoot with wireless triggers such as Yongnuo and I have received a pair of RF603's today - canon version. Obviously need more for additional flashes.

I need recommendations for additional flashguns that are compatible with Yongnuo RF603s. Not to fussed perhaps about ettl features. I'd also prefer it to have a PC port so that the trigger can be connected via a cable instead of hotshoe - personal preference.

Reliability is an issue as I feel if I am paying for something then I want it to last, so wasnt' sure about the 560, Di866 II or a 430EX ii...or even a Nikon.

Just wondered any recomendations?
 
Are they reliable enough? In terms of getting too hot, falling to pieces etc? Obviously, money wise they are very attractive, or could it be worth holding out for the 560-II. Hmmm.

Unlikely to have sufficient power for anything really useful
 
I have only just noticed this thread but can thoroughly recommend the Nissin Di866 mk2.

I bought mine, new from Amazon, recently and paid £180. It is a brilliant flash, more powerful than the EX580 mk2 and with a whole host of features.

Make sure you get the Mk2 version as it has a few, good updates, like a metal hot shoe attachment and improved zoom.

Build wise it isn't the 580 mk2 but it is still very solidly built.

I researched before I bought and couldn't find a bad word about the flash.

Power always comes at a price, although the manual only guns, such as the Yongnuo 560 etc, tend to give you a lot of power for your money, because you aren't paying for the intelligence of TTL etc.
Cheaper and easier to manufacture.
 
Is it worth getting them from Cotswold photo due to the warranty or en ebay seller like the official Yongnuo site?

Definitely! Trevor of Cotswold Photo is a very decent chap, and I've recommended his services a number of times, and I'm happy to do so again. :)

Just ordered additional triggers and Yongnuo and see how I get along lol.

Multi flash gun setup. Woo hoo

I have Lee flash gels and a Lumiquest Promax system, so will try those out more as well as umbrella and then infuture maybe a softbox depending on how the results go.

I can't wait actually lol.
 
I don't know the 560's but I've got the 460's which were under £40 each. Only manual power but brilliant, consistent power output and perfect for sticking places with wireless triggers. I use them on my lighting stands now instead of my expensive canon 580's etc.

I've put them through some al abuse and they are still working fine.
 
Damn that's fast delivery. Ordered late afternoon yesterday and received today. Just having a look at it now and feels very well built - buttons are a bit mushy, but not a proble, and free diffuser cap too. Will play about with it later and try and get to grips with it.

Just had a quick play with LED screen and surprinsingly nice for something very basic when am use to a LCD screen lol
