I wonder if anyone could help me I am really struggling. I am trying to add a transparent watermark to my photos. I have faststone photo resizer and I can clearly see how to add a watermark from that. But it requires you create a PNG file like the example in the photo. I have tried paint (but that does not create transparent) so I downloaded GIMP which I cannot fathom and its going to take a very long time to learn that software wheras all I want is to create a very simple watermark.

Is there a simple way to do it?

Thanks in advance

Sadly I don't use gimp, but I can make a PNG in photoshop easily enough, if you can tell me what you want and the size I'll make it for you.

For the benefits of other, could you let us all know how its done?

Cheers.

Swansea male can you talk us through this please step by step ?

(I have used photoshop here but it should be pretty much the same)
Create a new document (file new) make it the size you need, in the new file options choose RGB 8 bit 300 pixels per inch and the important bit background contents transparent.
Use your text tool (T) to add your text (hold down alt and type 0169 on numbers pad) for the copyright symbol) © 2010 Wayne Clarke or something similar (I always add the year)
Save as a .PNG you should have the option now as theres a transparent background.

In FastStone Image Viewer: select images > F3 (or Tools > Batch convert) > Use Advanced Options > click Advanced Options button > use the Text tab instead of Watermark.

Use the Watermark option with a PNG if you need more than one font option or an additional graphic e.g. logo.
