I can find my way through a wordpress admin panel fine and create new pages/post etc. Is it easy enough to enable a new Wordpress page/post or perhaps blog style so it is only visible to registered members which they can post any comments they wish to make, but still keeping the main site visible to joe public?
The link to this page would by invite only to members of a club I help run with a total membership probably not exceeding 300.

Can anyone recommend a plugin which might help make the job easier.

Thanks

its easy to make a page password protected in wordpress - theres a help topic on that

Are these 300 people registered on your wordpress site?

If I was building the site i'd have those members register on your wordpress site and then use a plugin like this one (http://wordpress.org/plugins/user-access-manager/) to create a specific user group for those 300 people and then set page permissions for that user group. This way in the long term you'll have a seemlessly integrated members only pages in the site and you can expand this as you wish.

The password page is a good idea but in my opinion it's only a short term solution.

Hi Kayjay, No these members are actually part of a local club who mostly have joined through word of mouth postal applications and email etc, not registered on the Wordpress site. When I took over the site was in dire need of updating which has now been done.
We have a PHPbb private members only forum available for the members but I know for a fact a lot of them do not like forums cos they feel they can't get to grips with one, That's what I'm told despite offering help, a lof of old fogies in the club :-)
I've been contemplating for next season to include a members only page on the website where members can make comments etc without having to stick find their way around various topics on a forum such as TP, Something just to give the members more choice on communicating with other club members.

There was a plugin for WordPress called buddypress. It might be worth looking at.
