Hi all.

Just rang to register my D7000 for its second year warranty and they've sold me a third year and upgraded warranty for £90.

The upgraded warranty means it covers all accidental damage and when not repairable a new camera would be issued.

Only £7.50 a month for a year.

This seems like something I may regret not going for so I've gone for it.

Think it's as good a deal as it sounds? I have a 14day cooling period.

I have the 2nd year warranty through the website as i registered with 30 days of purchase.

Remember most folk have accidental damage on home insurance as well so in theory if it broke or developed a fault it might shortly after have a severe accident involving a hard concrete floor

I rang for the same 2nd year within 30days of purchase but this one off £90 was offered.

Appreciate what you say about home insurance but there is no limit to claims with Nikon over the 3 years and no excess, plus a replacement camera if it hits that concrete floor.

Contacted Nikon, several weeks ago, about 3rd year and was told they were changing insurance provider. Time to contact them again.

True but you have fault insurance for two years with the nikon std warranty and home insurance covers accident damage so really for £90 you are getting that 3rd year of fault cover.

Yes they'd told me Nikon were new to their company, so should be ok now.

Think I'm gonna keep the 3rd year and upgrade.

If I drop the camera and smash it a couple of times in the next 2/3 years then it'll be worth every penny. Without any excess and impact on my home insurance premium.

Just contacted Nikon about my D800. I bought this 2nd hand with only a few clicks on it. The original purchaser had registered it with Nikon and it is guaranteed until middle of next year. Nikon have now transferred the ownership to me, so I now have the warranty on it to next year.
