It seems that many people are having issues with flickering displays and macOS Monterey:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253306846

I have the exact issue with my MacBook Pro 2021 16" and my Benq PD2700U.

It seems that whenever my MacBook sleeps, or I reconnect the display after having my MacBook away from my home setup - it reverts to a variable (40-60) refresh rate by default which results in a flickering or pulsing display which is really annoying.

According to the thread:

"I disabled "adaptive sync" on my screen. And there is no "variable" option in the mac setting anymore. Now it is default "60hz".

Has anybody had any joy finding an 'adaptive sync' toggle on their Benq monitor menus? I can't find it on mine. Wish I could solve this issue. Has anybody found a solution which avoids having to go into display settings all the time to manually switch it to 60Hz?

I've been in touch with Benq technical department to see if there is a solution but it seems my monitor isn't equipped with Adaptive Sync - so goodness knows why my MacBook thinks it does and defaults to it. Other than that they weren't much help at solving the issue.

I'm going to try using a HDMI to HDMI cable to see if that solves the problem. Currently I'm using a Belkin Display Port to USB-C cable.
