weekly Adamcski 52 for 2022 Week 52 (new to photography) 2022 52 complete

I quite like the not-quite-perfect arrangement of the spoons, feels much less staged and more inventive. For me, perfect arrangement doesn't always mean the best composition. Great idea.

A good representation of this type of image. If I took I would be continually adjusting the spoons and never be fully happy.
The depth of field works well to focus my viewing on the main spoons element

Great shot Adam. Copying ideas from other sources is a great way to learn by doing. And you know what they say about imitation being the sincerest...

That works well. I would never have spotted the picky bits that Nod noticed, but I do agree on the spacing (now he's mentioned it ha ha). I think there are a couple of musical slurs which make it look more bowed than it is. Great idea and it's well lit too.

An alley that appears to lead to another alley!
B/W looks fine.
I wonder what the cropped sign on the left says?

Some business signs that I cropped out as not sure on the rules and people in the shared offices accepting me posting their identity and images / office etc.

Alley leads to a main entrance / reception and small open grass area. Other side of the far wall is a derelict area currently being charged out as a car park....got to love the city centre.

I was wondering the same about the sign. I think I might have taken a step forwards to keep the symmetry but lose all the sign rather than cut it in half. Having said that, I think the only real option is to trim it in PP, otherwise you'd lose the top and/or bottom of the doorway.

I could clone it out in Affinity more than likely, but I am not in love with it (the photo)so didn't lol.

I was trying to ensure I got the top of the alleyway with the curved elements roughly equal. It's an old building, so not a fat lot is straight on it

Doesn’t matter if it’s a mobile phone. It’s whatever camera you have with you, and you've got the shot, and ticked the theme

Fits the bill. You've captured some nice and varied textures which are enhanced by the mono conversion.

Were it my shot and I wanted to play, I'd do the cloning thing but I don't enjoy PP!

Nowt wrong with using a phone - all mine so far have been with a middle aged compact.

Its an interesting shot for a "grab and go" image. Makes me want to see what's at the end.

You let work get in the way of your Photography

Ticks a box with some nice textures and good B&W.

Well today is the first day it has stopped raining and blowing a gale here, so I went for a walk with the wife and kids (took my G9 and the 12-60 mm Leica lens it came with for a spin).

First thing I have seen that fits the theme for the week is these, just lying in a field. Light was not great, the sun was very low and I forgot my lens hood, so my left hand is hovering above the lens for this shot.

Your chosen shot works well given the limitations you’ve described.

The chosen one I definitely see as the best of the three images, with the length of the trees adding "weight" to the theme.

It's a good choice Adam, I'd be interested in seeing it as a high contrast black and white.

Some snaps taken today for the theme LIGHT following a trip into Birmingham with the family to the Sealife Centre. Have around 425 other photos to sort through, but I like these (straight out of the phone - no editing).

My favourite one:

It is a shame about the tall white poles in some of the shots, but hey ho, I can only do my best...

For this week (light) I went with the candle one. I liked the phone one, but this had been done by another individual (albeit not in the dark irc) and I had already used the ICM technique. My other favourite was the building I shot on my phone in Birmingham.

The canfles tick my box - nice one :)

Light: All good but the candles pic does meet the theme nicely. I rather like the reflections one with the police car in too, but doesn't meet the theme as well as the candles IMO.

Heavy: Presume logs was the final choice (I haven't come from main thread - catching up on comments!) - I think this ticks the box nicely. Looks like you had a heavy sky too. I like it in colour as the light looks lovely.

Alleyway: Perhaps just a mobile shot, but this is very nicely executed and on theme. I quite often use my phone - the camera you have with you and all that!

Well it looks like I got lucky this week with damp and reflections as I am going with the one below:

Damp and technique is reflections:

Or the cropped version:

I wont post these for this week yet as I am informed they need to be new photographs taken once the theme is released. I am not feeling great so unsure if I will get out this weekend (the time I have available to play is typically the weekend). I have just jumped out the back and taken the below just in case:

I like the candles shot, and the final glass globe shot although I might have been tempted to crop it square to lose the pot top right and whatever is poking down into the image from the top.
