I am guessing you mean actuations and I also guess you are talking about the D7000 (not the P7000) but no, 6000 isn't a lot. DSLRs are usually tested to a minimum of 100000 actuations.
If its your first DSLR, I'd suggest going for something like the D3100. It's lighter and a little less daunting to use. Done me fine for the past 18 months but I am looking to upgrade soon (and keep the D3100 as a backup).
