Howdy folks,

There is a wealth of knowledge in this forum which I hope to be able to tap into. Up until now most of my post processing has been done in Capture NX2 but it doesn't play well on my Windows 7 desktop pc and is incredibly slow on my XP laptop - this last is not a criticism of CNX2 ... it's an old laptop :)

Anyway, I've also used CS4Extended in the past but it's a bulky programme with loads more features than I'm ever going to need to I bought Elements 7 a while back and have been playing with that. The version of ACR that is installed in Elements 7 is 5.6 whilst CS4 has 5.7. I have noticed that when going to save a file edited in 5.6 the only option is to save it as a .dng file but in 5.7 (CS4) you can also save as .jpg and .tif.

Today I have downloaded the trial version of Elements 8 and updated the ACR to 5.7 and was surprised to see that it too only has the .dng option when saving. The CS4 and Elements 8 versions of ACR both display as 5.7.0.213 so I was expecting the same options in both. Anyone else noticed this, or have I got a duff installation

TIA - and apologies for the long post :)

Your right and wrong LOL

IF your on a Windows machine your get organizer with Elements 8 which I guess only allows you to open the image via Elements 8 and ACR in this case as you say only the ,dng option is available.

Now in the OSX (mac) version of Elements 8 you also get a full blown copy of Adobe Bridge CS4 which will give you all the file saving option as in the full Photoshop suite.

Hmmm, Mark, I'm not sure about the relevance of Organiser or Bridge as I don't actually use either. Yes, I'm using Windoze machines but prefer to use the Windows file explorer to locate and open files in CS4/Elements.
