Yes
Wife isnt to impressed

leaving on my Num pad with a mouse is not good when looking on ebay

now need to pay then consider selling it :(

i'll give you 45p :)

ok ££££0.50

:)

You can retract bids, y'know.
I suspect you wanted it, really;)

My wife would never believe me either!

i did it without realising it in the last few minutes

she wants to start a business so its a excellent start for her i guess

ill stick to my 7D i guess

For info - you can't retract bids within 12 hours of end but anytime before that there is nothing to stop you retracting. Within 12 hours you need to get the seller to cancel your bid.
Or you can contact the seller and say you bought it accidentally. They can then offer to next highest bidder and ultimately cancel the transaction all together and get their fees back.

I'm am a bit surprised you managed to enter a bid and confirm it by accident though as teh confirmation screens are there to stop that - well almost :)

not when my mouse rests over the num pad and enter button
serves me right for having a track ball mouse resting on my laptop

Quite some bumping though, one bump to open bid block, press number keys x times to enter the amount of your bid, bump again to enter bid, little box opens in the middle of the screen and another bump needed to confirm there.

Lots of bumping, or you subconsciously wanted it and just kept bumping over and over ;).

little finger rests over the 9 and bottom of mouse on the enter

i would not have intentuarly brought it or even want to but to late now

good job it belonged to a photographer

I really cannot see how anyone can 'accidentally' bid on something on eBay due to the multiple steps taken to confirm a bid, but regardless of that, just enjoy it if you can afford to.
Great bit of kit, wish I could afford one myself. What price did you get it for?

Have you contacted the seller to see if he can offer to next bidder or cancel it?

I do a lot of eBay and I would be understanding if you did that with one of my items (although a bit annoyed) and would cancel the transaction.

If they are unreasonable you could always just not pay, after explaining to them that is what you will be doing. You will get a non paying bidder strike but it is not as though you can get bad feedback as a buyer is it. Not really the spirit of eBay but everyone makes mistakes.

From Brads description, it must have been £99 or £999 or £9999 or ... ;)

would never sell the 7D i love it to much

the 5d is my wifes long running birthday and christmas present for the next few years

just brought her a graphics tablet for her birthday in june (it was late becouse i was out the country) and was about to buy elements 10 but thats out the window now for a while

If the auction has ended or less than 12 hours remaining - you can still request for the transaction to be cancelled. Just contact the seller.

payed now

think my wife secretly wanted one :)

My pre-schooler bid on a jacket her daddy was watching but it had gone beyond his budget.... £585, she can't even read :-/

Not a bad price though op, maybe it's kismet :)

payed now

Given all the options you had to not actually have to buy it it is clear that it was not really an accident. I may have to try that excuse with my wife but I don't think she'd buy it for a second :)

nope it was genuine accident
i bid in the last few minutes so not really any chance to decline bid
wife isnt to upset just annoyed and i can always sell it to get my money back

my little boy claws at the keyboard so good job it wasnt him playing on the keyboard
it would have been a bid in the millions or something

i had one for a week a few years back but returned it to buy a car
it cost 2500 ish
so 4 months ago i brought the 7D and 70-200mm f4 for 1500 now the 5d mkii ant that adds to 2500 again so a bargain really
shes not killed me yet so think she really wanted it

Oh wow! That must have been a shock! At least she sorta has an excuse though, she can just bash buttons without any knowledge of what she's doing.

I wish I could have that kind of accident. My wife would castrate me for sure ;-)

Almost impossible to accidentally make a bid on ebay, just admit it.....:naughty:

thats what im thinking, i dont think the focus is on the continue button on the confirm bid page so pressing enter wouldnt have done anything?

I'm in the sceptical camp as well, just tried to bid without moving the mouse and its impossible.

You first need to mouse over and click in the bid box.
Then enter the bid and then control the mouse and move to the right to the "Place Bid" button, and then click.
The small bid confirm box pops up and you then need to control the mouse and move down to the "confirm" button and click.

its not even possible to do it with 2 hands and on purpose with your eyes closed, let alone purely by accident.

Maybe the OP's wife put the bid in because she wanted the camera and just didnt tell him she had placed the bid?

But she doesn't go on here no matter how many times I tell her

Was genuine mistake though

haha well there is that, man did I panic for that 10 minutes trying to work out how to retract the bid

i just bid on a cheaper item by a long way and my ebay opens the screen in full with only confirm bid or return to item but with bid selected

i no longer use the mouse on the numpad

I fell asleep at the computer once and bid around £14 million for a dvd. I was suffering from narcolepsy at the time so my fingers were still moving while I was snoozing. That was a long time ago before the confirm screen came up though and you just had to hit enter to confirm the bid. The seller was very understanding though and cancelled the bid and relisted it.
