Accessory add on grips, do you love them or hate them ?

Have one on my 10D. Balances the camera perfectly, and if at an all day equine event, the additional battery life is essential.

They have to design the crap, their pid to and they work to a brief, it does however allow the good stuff to shine.

Actually Ital Design didn't design the Morris Ital, they took the old Marina and updated. Harris Mann styled it.

Got a grip with a used 30d I bought and never used it. Then I got a 40d and put the grip on and I wouldnt be without it.
Maybe its just me, but I am a person who uses the left eye at the viewfinder and I find that if I rest the bottom corner of the grip about 2" down from my left shoulder it really steadies the camera
(I do have to hunch the shoulder forward a bit to do it!! ) They dont call me Quasimodo for nothing!

Not for me, the cameras just feel more comfortable and balanced in my somewhat large hands.
I've used grips for over 30 years so feels strange without one now.

If I'm doing studio work i use the grip (seems to handle better)
If I'm doing an event I use if or the battery life
If I'm out and about shooting for pleasure I tend to leave it at home. Camera doesn't fit in the slingshot when it's on.
Doesn't this raise a bigger question? Does anyone else really struggle to leave kit behind when you take your camera out and about. I hate carrying the flash gun for example but some kind of OCD niggles at me where I'm imagining being trapped in low light situation with just the built in flash! End result is normally a heavy kit bag.

Had a grip on my 350D from day one, same on my 30D...
Got my D300 last week and used it without a grip for a few days and couldn't wait to get the MB-D10 grip.
The D300 is the same size as the 30D with the grip (I noticed this when I placed it in my camera bag) but still a [PLEASE DON'T TRY TO BYPASS THE SWEAR FILTER] to handle without the grip. With the grip its now too tall for my bag (grrrrr!) but MUCH better to handle.
Tried some portrait shots without the grip at the weekend, what a faff!!
Maybe you don't notice the balance issue if you use small light lenses, but it makes the world of difference when you stick big long heavy glass on it.
The battery issue is another thing - I don't want to be doubting my battery life when shooting motorsport. I want one set of batteries to last 1500+ shots. The ENL-3E battery is good, but not that good. A second one in the grip sorts this.... even better if I take the (expensive) plunge into the ENL-4A!
The only pain is that the MB-D10 grip only takes one ENL-3E battery, the other remains in the body. On the 30D both batteries go into the grip, so the grip never comes off...
PS I like Marmite too mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
