I brought this Old Manual lens on a whim, from fleabay as I do not have a prime lens of any sort and also like to take pic's of the garden birds.
It arrived today and to be honest needed a damd good clean lens glass so dirty I thought it was tinted:jawdrop:. anyhoo after a good clean and re-assemble screws tightend etc I tried it out .....
MY MY What a lens!!!! super sharp and has a manual override for appature so you can set the appature to what ever but open/close with this other ring great for on fthe fly appature changes etc.
I tried it om my Nikon d5100 in manual of course, and I am like a dog with two tails:banana:so for £10 I think I got a real bargain!!! So will I be picking up other OLD UNWANTED Manual lenses you bet!!!

Can't beat a bargain. I love old manual lenses, with patience and practice you can get some very nice results.

It's not "manual override", it's called "Pre-set". It's what we had for SLR's before auto diaphragms where the camera closes down the aperture just after you've pressed the tit and before opening the shutter.

Set the desired aperture, focus wide open for accuracy, then stop down to the "Pre set" aperture with the second ring just before taking the shot. I got very adept doing it with me little finger on my old Zenith at air shows. Except when I forgot to stop down! Then you found out how wide the exposure latitude of the film you were using was.

Brave taking it apart. Well done. Now show us some ducks.

Glad you got a good one. I have something like that left from film days, but it was never that great back then, and it's full of dust now to the point I don't want to put it on a camera without a good clean.
