OK, time to blow my own trumpet! :D

After several years of blood, sweat and tears, I submitted my panel of 15 prints to the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) for assessment for the Associate distinction (ARPS), and today received an email saying that I had been successful (subject to ratification by the Council)! I didn't think that urbex stuff would meet with their approval, as it's not exactly your traditional RPS material, but maybe times are a changing! :)

For anyone interested, it's the first 15 images in this set on my website (warning: grim industrial landscapes): http://www.theviewfromthenorth.org/portfolio67607.html

Congratulations:thumbs:

The images on the website are excellent - these are the sort of images a suvvner like me expects to see in the North........... well I did before moving here 16 years ago;)

Thanks.

Congratulations, stunning images well deserved.

Congratulations - very interesting to see the selective colouring being used too

Great pictures but a little depressing if you are of a certain age.

Whatever happened to UK industry, easy enough to make a list of the reasons I guess.

Well done Andy, that's a great set of images! And congrats on being accepted into the RPS.

PS and best of all, you used selective colouring in a way that didn't make me want to puke :D

Thanks everyone:)

I'd only planned to do it on one originally, but I was advised to find a couple more, so I had to really search for some suitable images. I think those 3 are the only times I've ever used the technique, and I don't intend ever using it again!

Some of the Images are stunning, really stunning.

Congratulations!

I like them

Woo hoo, well done. I'm still wrestling with my panel!

We beat ourselves up for every failure and missed shot, enjoy the victory. Well done!

Congrats!! A mighty fine achievement!

Stunning, stark and thought provoking pictures. Testimony to your doggedness and eye. Well deserved recognition. Well done.

Congrats Andy. I always said those images were something special when you shared them at college.

Love the pictures, can see why you were accepted. Well done indeed, maybe someday I will get the recognition I deserve as well lol :)

Really great set of images, which I actually don't really find grim. They have a stark beauty of their own. Congratulations on the achievement

Thanks again everyone, my work tends to polarise opinions, not everyone likes looking at grim monochromatic depictions of industrial decay! And the amount of time (and attention) spent cutting out the selective coloured areas was mind boggling, enough to put me off ever doing it again!

Congrats Andy. I always said those images were something special when you shared them at college.

Cheers Kev, I took a few of those for my college portfolio, you may well recognise some of them!

Many congratulations on you achivment Andy
