Acceptable places to break wind

Well, here in China, the answer is anywhere.

The correct method for belching (must be done after lunch) is to stick chin out, open mouth wide, and let rip. Keep going until it's all out. Ladies especially, and in meetings, all good.

With regards farting, it doesn't happen much, probably diet. Chinese medicine says "if it wants out, it's bad and should come out immediately", applies to all gases/fluids/phlegms. Working in a Hong Kong office when a cold is going round is quite an experience.

A turbo powered stairlift would be more fun:D

Why does that make me thing of Mrs Deagle?

On a slightly more serious note, I have Diverticular disease and if I'm not a bit careful, it can degenerate into Diverticulitis and has hospitalised me. I have been told by my GP that I should release any trapped wind as fast as possible so I do - not instantly but I do burp or fart as soon as it's practical to do so without causing offence. However, I did used to deliberately relieve pressure when passing people who smoked in restaurants...

A perfectly natural bodily function, I don't know what the problem is with some folk. Now when you can fart in stereo that's something to be proud of :)
