Abstracting Landscapes - Bob davis

I have come accross some heavilly modified [abstract] photos by Bob Davis on flickr.

These are fenland scenes but take on a totaly different quallity when modified and I fancy having a go at something similar, however I am a complete Ludite when it comes to photoshop and any pointers in the right direction, regarding this style of photos, would be greatly appreciated.

Well a link would be nice, the Bob Davis I found seems to have mostly family photos.

If you use Alistairs link, go back to page 1 and there are sections on Wisbech Exibition, Abstracts, and fen photos.

If I knew how to do a link then I would give you one!! He has a way of just getting hazy or blocks of colour photos which fasinate me

Maybe taken out of focus and under exposed then lightened to get the noise ? Have to admit if I see anything like that when I am going though my pictures I tend to delete them but if they sell maybe I should reconsider ?

Some of them look like the technique where camera has been moved in one plane during the exposure to give the blurred effect. Sometimes horizontally moved, sometimes vertically. I could easily be wrong though.
