About to splash £450 on a Pentax k-x ? Should I...

see this is what i hate when people slag off pentax, its an excellent company with loads of lenses and legacy lenses especially as scott says, its just a good system as canon, nikon, sony, olympus etc and because pentax dont have this huge badge loyalty they have to make their money a different way...through making better lenses and bodies ;)

canon and nikon are good but they could release a really crappy lens or body and people will still buy it because of the badge whereas pentax dont have that luxury so they have to go in the hard way and i think they are doing a pretty good job.

At no point did i slag off Pentax...
I stated they were Old Hat.
Their Flagship camera is around 3 years behind the rest of the Big Players and that is a FACT.
You are also claiming they make better bodies and Lenses but yet i see no link in your post that points me to an All Knowing Review Website that states "Pentax Bodies and Lenses are better"
But yet most impartial reviews seem to state the opposite.

oh dear - might as well bin my shiny new camera...

don't panic

everyone on here has there preferred 'brand'

there are quite a few current Pentax/Tamron/Sigma lenses that should suit any purpose and a lot of good older lenses to go at
don't have a wide angle lens myself, other than the kit lens 18-55
as for the 50mm 1.7 - its a fixed focal length/manual focus//super fast(wide aperture) old lens - i've not used mine yet(its at the post office waiting to be collected) but lots of people go on about 'nifty fifty' lenses and when you can get one for approx £60 i thought it'd be worth a punt

as i said try the pentaxforum website and you'll find lots of tempting lenses new+old
