I’m coming up to South Wales on sat 1st march and thinking of calling in at Aberdulais falls, does anyone live nearby and can tell me if there is a lot of water around in the rivers as its been a bit dry lately.

cheers

We've had a nice spell of dry weather but it has rained here today and forcast is for showers. River levels haven't been that high lately, just "normal".

Check out the neath port talbot website for a guide on the area, there are some stunning waterfalls if your willing walk, some much better than aberdulais.

hi zeb,we've had a few days of rain this last few days,so there's a bit of water in the river at present.as it happens,i'm passing aberdulais falls for most of this week,so if you PM me on friday,i'll let you know how things are looking there...

Check opening times. I went there last summer and we arrived a few minutes after they closed - it was either 16:30, or 17:30, I think. I thought it would be simple enough to get to them anyway, but you can't access the falls if the place is shut.

You can walk from Neath town centre along the Neath Canal or take a trip on the canal boat "Thomas Dadford" after Easter which will take you to Aberdulais Basin. Some good photo opportunities on the way.

a turk in our midsts

i used to work in the trostre industrial estate back in the early 80's,and had many a good night out in the town...moonraker,stepney etc etc

Moonraker and the stepney, oh those were the good old days!

You know i'd love to go out shooting with a group of you sometime. I do sometimes feel a bit of a plonker getting the shots i want, but if there's more of you is not so bad! Besides cos i'm short i can hide behind people then and i dont get seen

Could we share some inspiration/good shots of the area with each other on a different thread or something? I need to get out there and shoot i havent been for so long!!

Just an update - Yes, I am "local" and a member of the Canal Trust - at the end of March, the newly restored aqueduct at Ynysbwllog will be opened so the canal boat will be able to cruise as far as Clyne. Great pics of the falls, Stan !!!
