Just had a notification from Sky News that ABBA are to release new music for the first time in 35 years.

I hope it’s good!
 
Oh good lord I hope not. The guys may still write a good tune but the girls will never be up to singing it. This will be just like other bands who've 'come back' recently like Aha and Roxette, just not able to find the mojo and voices not up to the task any more.

Bit different in the case of Roxette, Marie Frederiksson had a brain tumour which left her blind in one eye and unable to read or write.
Thought it was quite sad watching her sat on a stool onstage singing, brave lady to face the audience like that.

Didn’t know that. That is brave.

ABBA will probably make more money from this comeback than they did the first time round. Good luck to them I say.
 
Good - even as a heavy metal fan I thought they were great.

I think you will find the men used to sing too.

I would be pleased if they wrote some new material to add to their catalogue, I hope this re-emergence is a success. Can't really call it a come back as their music has been everywhere for decades and is still hugely popular. I wish them the good fortune.
 
Their publicist was on 5 live tonight.

They have produced 2 new songs and thry all enjoyed the moment.

Definitely no tour as they are zll in their 70s and have not toured for 40 years!

Will be interesting to hear the new songs.

Back in the day they were very professional, I would think they will be self critical enough to can the idea if they don't sound good anymore, at least I hope so, too many artists carry on past their sell by date and ruin their reputation.

Hardnened rocker here but I must admit to being partial to a bit of Abba :whistle:, good to hear. (y)
 
Read about this in the paper on the way home yesterday afternoon. Not too sure what to make of them getting back together but will reserve judgement until I hear what they have to offer.
 
If they're not trying to recreate the old Abba it might be ok, I went and had a listen to both of the girls last releases and they did well but the songs were slow ballads.
 
If they ever did a tour they would make sooo much money money money :p
