Right then, there's only so many times I can go Whittingham Asylum, and I love these kind of places. Anyone got any good suggestions for northwest abandoned locations? I'm not averse to a little clambering and a little security avoidance, but I am averse to getting arrested and/or killed.

Anyone?

i know of loads in London, if you are ever down, i would love some one to go investigate them with.

Manchester City's trophy cabinet?

it might be worth just taking a drive paddy, maybe up the m65 or down towards manchester/salford, im sure you'll happen upon something thats derilict and interesting fairly interesting
i guess the best thing you can do before entering one of these sites is ensuring that your safe AND not going to get savaged by guard dogs....... maybe throw a few sausages over the wall first to see if any dogs surface... :D

If you goto www.28dayslater.co.uk they are urban explorers and will give you plenty of places to visit. They also have some awesome images to view of the places they have been all over the country.

there are loads of places you just need to get out and about looking for them

signing up to 28daylater etc and just randomly asking for place to go is going to get you nowhere because to them you might be security/police etc...

go on google and do some searching , defenatly easier than you prob think

You dont need to ask anyone anything, just hang out and read the forums, do a saerch on the threads and you will find enough ideas i am sure.

Thats true. I used to be a member and they wont give out any info to new guys which is fair enough. But you could search the site and you'll find stacks of stuff. Theres an amazing amount of dereliction in the North West, especially nice old industrial stuff.

yep i used to be a member too until everyone got kicked off and you couldnt re register

going registering again now :) ......

I am on Derelict Places now, same kinda thing. I found a lot of good underground stuff which I like, from searching, stuff I wouldn't have dreamed existed. Its quite a good resource.

theres the old ravenshead glass plant. Liverpool members will know exact spot. I work at shutdown refinery Wirral if they start demolition here ill pm you.Arent there a couple of mills in your neck of woods

If your ever in Huddersfield, I can get you into some shut down abandoned mills, atleast 8 in my area which really emotional and atmospheric photos. Isn't there a flickr account which looks into abandoned buildings? I remember finding one of the mills near me on there, god knows how they managed to stumble across it.

i love abonded scary buildings. but i always take a few (big) people with me otherwise i get to scared. i would love to visit an old mental asylum of some sort. theres a few around my area in dumfries. reasonably small buildings but quite scary and deserted.
i hear chernobyl is quite abonded (is that in bad taste)
but theres a thread in out of focus about someone who went on a tour there. some good photos in there. i would love to go somewhere like that.

ive bEEN reading through that 28days later site, some interesting stuff in there. glad to see someone has attempted access to the cold war bunker on helsby hill, ive been in there once, its a bit boring tbh, just a few old bunkbeds and a few cans of beans.

i think i could spend some time on that site, very interesting

Check out Northwest Exploration it's more focused on the North West, and a lot of the stuff is Manchester...also a lot friendlier site ;)

I can recommend St Catherine's Chapel which is next door to the Scotch Piper pub in Lydiate on the edge of Maghull. It's abandoned and has no security. Just park and walk in - then take as many images as you like.

look for local urbex forum get to know them, they wont take you to decent ones at 1st, get few pics up, let them know your serious. There are rules for urbexing and take a friend. research on internet, google earth is your friend as well. Theres a lot of luck involved so you need to be patient, you can visit sites 2-3 times and not gain access then get lucky. Flickr can be helpful look for pics in local areas that have already been urbexed.

Hi Chris I also live in London area and would be interested in a meet if you know of places to go. Kinda bored with the usual photos of London want something differant.

You tried Goosnargh Filter Bunker, only round the corner from Whittingham? Mount Street Nursing Home up on Mount Street in the centre of Preston? Vernon Carus down Factory Lane in Penwortham?

Severalls is a very visited place and there are some great photos of it about. Try here. I really wanted to go to High Royds to shoot the morgue but they have knocked half the windows out now. Looks ace though.
